Alias Module is a module designed for use with Ammon Skidmoreﾕs Extension Strip 1.0. It
greatly simplifies the creation of aliases, as well as streamlining the organisation of your file system.
To use Alias Module, simply drag the icon of an item for which you wish to make an alias onto Alias Moduleﾕs icon in the Extensions Strip. A pop-up menu of folders will appear; drag the mouse until the destination folder you want is highlighted and release. The alias will now be created in the desired folder.
How does Alias Module present the list of folders? Simple - it creates a folder inside the System Folder called ﾔAlias Module Itemsﾕ. Inside this folder, you can put aliases of folders where you are likely to want to create aliases (note: you must use aliases of folders, not folders themselves). Typical examples might be the Apple Menu Items folder, the System Folder or the top level of one of your hard disks. If the folder you want is not in the list, use the ﾔOtherﾉﾕ menu item, and a directory dialogue box will be shown, allowing you to choose the destination.
If you hold down the shift key while dragging the icons, then they will be moved to the destination folder. If the option key is held down instead, they will be copied. Clicking on Alias Moduleﾕs icon in the Extensions Strip shows a pop-up menu with a single item, ﾔAbout Alias Moduleﾉﾕ. This shows the online help box. Holding down the Command (□) key while clicking on Alias Moduleﾕs icon, will show the pop-up menu of folders. Choosing one of the items will open that folder. The ﾔOtherﾉﾕ item can only be chosen if the Finder is frontmost.
Alias Module requires Extensions Strip 1.0 or higher. It will not run with Appleﾕs Control Strip or Mice&Menﾕs Desktop Strip. It requires System 7.5 or higher.
